DUMB DIY: Lemonade Stand

a DIY Lemonade Stand that is so easy it’s dumb

30 years ago, I sold lemonade in front of my Nana’s house by the beach for 5 cents. I still remember the feeling of excitement when her neighbor came over and gave me a dime instead of a nickel for a glass! So when my 4 year old told me he wanted to do a lemonade stand, I wasted no time.

I searched online for something I could buy, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that I could make something cuter. I loved the DIY lemonade stands I saw online made with pallets or wooden crates stacked, but the supplies alone were kind of expensive for a DIY project. Plus, we are in the middle of moving, so I needed something STUPID EASY.

And this was just that. So easy it was stupid. I literally laughed with my dad how easy it was. And it had no business turning out this cute.

Here is what you need: 1 storage cart or shelving unit, 2 wooden dowels, tape or zipties, a pennant banner, alphabet stickers or a marker, and an optional clamp on umbrella.

If it is not linked here, I found it at TJ Maxx!

How To

I feel silly writing instructions because it was that easy, but I have one little tip I want to tell you, so here we go!

  1. Build your shelving unit, or grab one you already have at home!
  2. Tape or zip tie wooden dowels to the sides. I recommend having two attachment points per side.
  3. Put alphabet stickers on the pennants. You can also make your own sign instead of using a storebought banner!
  4. Here is the tip! My pennant banner was too long for my shelving unit. So I folded in between each pennant and stapled them together. This made the sign fit better between my two dowels! This will depend on what shelving unit you use!
  5. Tape, pin, or ziptie your banner across the top of the dowels.
  6. Optional: Clip on an umbrella and tape to the dowel for more support!

Specialty Lemonade

Because I love a good drinkie and a cute cup, we offered a specialty lemonade option. I found some cute large cups from TJ Maxx with lemons on them.
We offered this lemonade with cold foam on top, so delicious and creamy!

Lemonade Stand Mom Hack??

I know I built this lemonade stand, but I did do a lazy mom lemonade stand and used storebought lemonade! It was on sale!

I also bought 9 ounce cups! I feel like this was easier for the kids to pour and manage, it gave us the ability to lower the cost, plus it felt a lot less wasteful than giving out large solo cups full of lemonade!
